MLW Network's Top 20 Players Right Now: #14 - Kris Lapsley

Many might find this spot for Lapsley on our list a little low. Maybe he's still underrated, but maybe once the rest of the list is unveiled it will make more sense. First the positives: Lapsley is a fantastic 2-way player. He might be the best defensive player in the entire league. His power, speed and ability to always take an extra bag make him very dangerous at the plate. His pitching is unconventional but it usually seems to get the job done and he's got plenty of big game experience. What keeps him down on this list: He strikes out at an alarming rate, walks people at an equally troubling pace, and he is the most prestigious player to never hoist the Swanberg Trident. He has reached at least the semi-final in all 6 of his tournament appearances, 3 times reaching the championship game. He has come up short every time. A lot of it has to do with bad luck, some of it lack of performance. The good news is Lapsley still seems to have plenty of chances ahead of him. If he gets a title, it will be because he's more than earned it. He is sure to be a contributor for the Flapacamingos again this year.
