NOTES
While the Ironballs have made the playoffs in 4 of the 5 tournaments they've played in, often it seems the same set of problems plague them. Let's start with the roster. The Ironballs return mostly the same set of guys as last year, and there's absolutely no question this team can put runs on the board. They take their walks, they punish mistakes, they hit for power and run the bases well. Defensively, they are one of the better teams out there. It's on the mound where the root of their problems lie. They have owner/captain and future Hall of Famer Allen Cruz as their top arm, but consistently throwing strikes has been an issue. Not just for Cruz, but for the entire team. The Ironballs lead the tournament in walks since they first joined this tournament in 2020, but over the last two years that has been accentuated, as they lead in walks over the last 2 years by almost double the next closest squad. They have to find strikes consistently if they have any intention on winning the whole thing. Izayah Boobie Quinones, heavily coveted by rival teams, looks to be the best returning hitter, alongside T.J Suppi, Josh Rodriguez and young phenom Dylan Tollefson. We will see if their pitching luck improves come Saturday.
