Goondingos Looking To Ride Last Year's Success Back Into The Mix

They came so close. Leading in the 2nd inning, the Goondingos were, for the first time in their history, (2nd in their separate franchise histories) less than 10 outs from a title. And then, the Flapacamingos got in the way. Ryan Ricci locked in, a controversial base-line call caused a do-over, then the result went against them, and the Goondingos ultimately fell short, losing the title game, 10-4.

The day on the whole was a good result for the G'dangs, who won their first playoff game together since the merger, and they're hoping to ride those vibes and bump in talent to finally break through. The Goondingos left no stone un-turned this offseason while trying to add talent. They've had multiple signings happen, & then fall-thru. All-time great Mark Ronchetti retired. Gumbo Martini went back to prison. But the front office remains optimistic.

The addition of Connor Viglianti is where their main positivity lies, as Minor League rankings have him as a consensus top 10 prospect. The return of a number of older veterans gives the Goondingos, with all of their off-field concerns, a steadying presence. If they can get the 2nd arm figured out, as is the case for a number of teams, they could again find themselves in position to finally reach the top.

One Interesting Fact

Goondingos remain the only team in Wifflepalooza history to BOTH carry their own keg from field to field, AND play a live game of beer pong in the outfield during a game.

Key Factor To Watch

In their split and combined franchise histories, The Goondingos (Goon Squad & Mandingos), have a total record of 44-61. When the team measured BAC rises above .25, their record is a ghastly 15-40. When they're able to still legally operate a bicycle, their combined record sits at 29-21, which on it's own would be good for the 8th best record in tournament history.
